Fitness - Why Keeping It Interesting Is A Good Strategy

A lot of us really go for it at the beginning of an
exercise regime. And though it can be tough on our bodies,
the motivational factor sees us through the first stages of
a fitness program. It is normal to feel some improvement
very early on - at the end of week one, even, especially
for those who are really out of shape. You remember that
your heat is a muscle, and begin to enjoy the stretch and
strength in your limbs... you might why you did not start
sooner.
As time goes on, even if the physical form is still
improving, the mind can get find it a little dull. It is
the time when the gym-goer has checked out all the gear in
the gymnasium, settled on those machines they like best...
yes, you know it is good for you but the you feel
uninspired. Do not throw in the towel at this point, there
are things that can be done!
This gradual lack of motivation is normal - keeping going
is what most struggle with. Take it as a sign to think
about a little variation in your fitness regime.
For a runner the variation can be achieved in a number of
ways. New routes, some track work or some gym sessions.
Cross-training like weight session at a gymnasium can help
you avoid injury and build muscles that will improve your
running too.
Gym fans may find it is time to introduce a few fitness
classes to their schedule or do a few laps in the pool.
When your only motivation is you, it can be tough. A
fitness class lets the instructor take over the pace and
their job is to make it enjoyable too. Similarly getting
friends to become involved - joining your gym or dusting
off their bicycle and joining you on a ride. this way you
can share the motivation.
Other times the problem is not that you do not have the
will, but that you do not have the time. Maybe work is too
demanding. Skip more than one or two sessions and we start
to worry about sliding backwards in our fitness. There are
ways to get fitness worked into a busy schedule and keep
your level up when the inevitable happens and you skip a
day or two at the gym. An easy start is climbing steps
instead of hopping on the elevator.
Take advantage of the lunch break for a swift, mind-
clearing stroll to keep your fitness. Should you need to
attend a meeting then you could pass up the offer of a car
or taxi and stroll there instead (if it is fairly close).
Even after a tough day a few house based floor exercises
can make you feel better.
The same old routine will kill off the enthusiasm in anyone
- accept this and instead of fighting it, freshen up your
fitness program. Fitness should be fun!
